Should the freedom of speech be allowed to everybody?

Posted on November 26th, 2009 by admin

The freedom of speech allows everybody in the united states to speak whatever they want. Should this be allowed to everybody? & why?

There are limitations on free speech, such as yelling fire in a movie theatre or threatening someone else’s freedoms, or creating an imminent threat or disrupting the peace.

Also, even legal free speech cannot protect you from any of these:

1) Legal contracts with restraining orders

2) Violating rules of conduct in a public or private institution (ie talking loudly in an examination testroom or while a college professor is lecturing a course that other students paid money for. They have the right to make you leave.

3) Your free speech cannot defend you against getting fired from a job, suspended from a school, removed from an orchestral concert. It will, however, protect you from going to jail on the basis of exercising free speech. However, you can still be charged with other crimes such as refusing to remove yourself from a place you’ve been asked to leave. It would be a property rights violation.

Freedom of speech is a right for U.S citizens. Yes, if you are a citizen, say what you want. If you are not a citizen, you should not have the same rights. But that’s another topic I won’t address at this time otherwise this answer would become a lengthy dissertation.

Yes it must coz’ it is the basic principle in a democratic nation. That is the difference with other forms of gov’t like communist & socialist types wherein there will be no such freedoms. It is a way to establish equality among the citizens to avoid abuse of power & wealth. It is a way of expressing thoughts & ideas to improve & alleviate the systems of existing laws of a state. A means to correct erroneous acts & update ordinances according to the current evolving times. It also makes the lives of the citizens be respected according to his human rights.
