How come some liberals seem to think that "freedom of speech" does not apply to conservatives?
Posted on October 25th, 2009 by admin
A few anti-war protesters attempted to deny John McCain’s freedom of speech, by disrupting his acceptance address at the RNC.
Don’t these people believe in free speech for ALL Americans — including those whose opinions are different from their own?
I don’t recall this kind of thing being doen during Obama’s acceptance speech.
And please, none of this "they were only exercising their own free speech" garbage.
Exercising one’s rights does not mean we are allowed to infringe on someone else’s. That’s what these idiots did.
.
This is why I am changing my vote from Obama to McCain, I was split on them both. But the way the democrats have been acting lately has made me not want to be in the same room as them.

it goes both ways… their freedom of speech was being interrupted when they got dragged out…
there are two sides to EVERY argument…
sorry jenny
Joe E: im not an idiot or a moron or whatever you called me… and may i say that i am correct. if you would like to debate this email me… i always allow it…

You sure are cute, but to answer your question they like the "fairness doctrine" and think free speech only applies to them.

They believe in freedom of speech if you hold their views, otherwise they just think you should shut up!!

Rubbish. Conversatives are always the ones telling liberals to shut up and not question their government. They make liberals feel like shit for asking questions.
Also, if people from the international community start giving their opinion about the Bush administration, the conversatives are always the ones to tell them to butt out and say "it’s none of your business, you are not entitled to an opinion over our business."
It is the job of every PATRIOTIC AMERICAN to question their government!

Oh, it applies. It’s just that when conservatives speak, it can sometimes be hard to stay awake enough to listen.

Republicans
1.Answer every question with lies and deflections while standing in front of our flag, wearing flag pins, and playing patriotic music.
2.Promise to regulate private lives while they sell the country from under our feet.
3.Ignore any facts that don’t support their views: the price of gas, the deficits, and the number of home foreclosures, as well as, rising poverty and “outsourcing” America.
4.Ignore that a vote for McCain is approval for 8 more years of pulling money out of the middle class.
5. Enjoy listening to puppets read one line of rhetoric once a day, stay the course.
6. Ruthless and hypocritical.
7. Eyes, mind, and feet are focused on death in heaven while America is sold to the highest bidder, Big Oil, China, and Walmart.
8. Use broad undefined words to brainwash people.
9. Only have one issue and that is to regulate a woman’s uterus, never mind family privacy, war killing, orphan children, tubal pregnancies, or becoming a surrogate for unwanted. Does life end at birth?
10. Put money, church, sports and entertainment before country.

There is a difference between "Freedom of Speech" and "Lies".
Republicans tend to lie to get what they want. Yet they get dismissed for it and noone seems to care. But if a democrat stretches the truth, they”re still talking about it for years afterwards.

Liberals believe in free speech for themselves and anyone agreeing with them. No one else is afforded that freedom because it underminds their beliefs.
Liberals want you to accept their ideas even when they aren’t going to even listen to yours.
They really don’t care if they interfer with your freedoms. In fact that is their whole purpose!

Liberals always think they are the only ones with all the answers… most of them cry for the freedom of speech, but they don’t believe in it belonging to anyone else who opposes their ideas of so called “change”

Well, perhaps you don’t realize it, but there are millions and millions of people in this country who do not agree with John McCain. Perhaps the RNC was so anxious to fill seats that they brought in people off the streets for this event.

As usual a group of LIBERAL DEMOCRATS ..crashed the GOP convention and attempted to shout the speakers down……they were trespassing and you DO NOT have the right to commit a crime to INFLICT your views at a PRIVATE affair….You have to realize that liberals are impaired mentally and believe that freedom of speech ONLY applies to WHEN THEY ARE SPEAKING or someone that agrees….If you disagree or have a different point….they feel they have the freedom to shout you down…..Great Question…

Because the democrats are idiots and their supporters are idiots…
That is the democrat supporters attack, to go into the RNC and do some stupid act like that. The democrats should teach their supporters to have some decency.
Democrats are upset because they now may loose their purposed free welfare and actually may have to go to work………

That’s what I was thinking. And as for the whole "their freedom of speech was denied when they were dragged out" statement, that’s just not true. Their freedom of speech was denied when they decided to disregard public safety and became an unruly mob. Some of them were using tear gas for christ’s sake. There’s a reason we don’t tolerate anything other than "peaceful" protests. But in the end, they only hurt themselves. Hurricane Gustav was supposed to dominate the news this week, but then all of those violent protesters brought the attention right back to the RNC. John McCain thanks you, St. Paul.

I have a better question for you. Why is it that anyone who doesn’t belong to your Nazi party is labeled unpatriotic by the right-wingers?
To answer your question, a true liberal believes anyone should have freedom of speech… The ones who were disrupting the speech weren’t liberals, they were rude.

I’m glad you included the "some" in your question. Not all of us are so crude. And yes, that kind of thing does happen to liberal speakers. I can’t say why it did happen to McCain and didn’t to Obama, but I know Obama wouldn’t support such rudeness.
I think some people feel it’s more important to get their message out and so will resort to extreme means. They’re like those PETA freaks who like to throw red paint on old ladies in fur coats. It’s not acceptable behavior and not the right way to get things done. It’s just sad that they make the rest of us look so bad doing it.
You are absolutely correct that freedoms are not the same as liberties. While they were free to speak, they were not at liberty to do so as it infringed on not only McCain, but all of those attending and watching.

I think it doesn’t matter McCain should be glad he was interrupted now he will be on all the new channels. Lord know his speech was a sleeper and the media would have skipped the embarrassment McCain’s empty rhetoric had on the crowd. That is if the protester stayed seated in one on the hundreds of empty seats. They couldn’t fill the seats they had and the place was tiny. Good luck getting the votes. lol

lol what a warped point of view. they were preventing someone elses freedom of speech. We have rules about protests and taht person(s) did not follow them.
If their speech is contigent upon infringing on somone elses rights its obvious who is in the wrong. If you cant see that you need to really study what those rights really mean.

Very good points, as usual, Jenny, and you seem to have hit an Obamabot nerve.
You seem to have been flooded with silly, illogical Obamabot answers.
No one from the McCain camp was rude or stupid enough to try to shout down the silly media hype and bizarre fanfare at the DNC Convention.
It seems now that the more desperate Obamabots become, the louder and less sensible they also become.
Love, I wrote to you, all of your "points" have been discounted and proven wrong already. Perhaps you can catch up to the debate by re-posting your answer as a question. We McCain supporters would gladly help you see your errors of logic and fact. Perhaps after your do this, and see where you seem to be misled, you might not embarrass yourself so much in the future.
