what’s your opinion on this 1776 quote from Thomas Day regarding the founding fathers and freedom from Tyranny?

Posted on June 6th, 2010 by admin

“If there be an object truly ridiculous in nature”, “it is an American patriot, signing resolutions of independency with the one hand, and with the other brandishing a whip over his affrighted slaves.”

–Thomas Day, on the hypocrisy of American "freedom fighters"
@Josh: that’s a cop-out, it was still slavery, and still hypocritical.

Hypocracy has always been at the root of America.

Many of the founders wrote about the injustices of slavery. I suggest you research it, but somehow I dont think you will.

That a Democratic America in which slavery persisted in parts of the country was more democratic than the world’s other countries, which still had slavery and didn’t have democracy.

People back then were a lot more aware of the corruption of the governement than they are today due to the fact that they are all blindsided by fake kindness and empty promises.

Yes, many of our Founders disapproved of slavery, but they knew the only way to get all of the colonies to join them, was to keep it legal.

Where are the slaves of today’s patriotic Americans? Was this a vain attempt to paint patriotic Americans with the wide brush of racism? Shame on you if so.

    government debt slavery doesn’t discriminate

by your logic, "the founders were racist so we should dismiss the constitution and get ourselves $13 trillion in debt"

"Liberty and individual freedom is what this country is based on. The liberty and individual freedom to be a slave-owning, land stealing, immigrant exploiting aristocrat. That’s what wrong here, we’re not just darkies, we’re people too. This is no doubt the land of the free…to be a racist."— An American Communist named "Friend"

That’s not me of course, but a quote from a novel I enjoy.
