If we didn't have eyes, we wouldn't nearly sin as much as we do..... Desires and bodily lusts are all freedoms of the eyes

The eye can be greedy, it follows temptations and leads man to destruction.. So you are chained to the earth, in your bodily form so that you may learn all these things. Life on earth is a struggle and if you stray you will pay for all your wrongdoings...
You must find your soul and seek truth. Earthly pleasures mean nothing, seek eternal things like love truth happiness...

" if your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; For it is better to live without one eye and go to heaven then for your whole body to be thrown into hell"
References :
Maybe it means that once we begin to analyze things, we become stuck and stubborn.

Our eyes interpret things, and we process it and it becomes memories and beliefs. If we were blind, and we could not see anything, we may consider ourselves more free in a way, because we do not have the freedom of our eyes to limit our perceptions. If we were blind, the only thing we could think is "there must be a bazillion things to see if you have eyes. That would be so cool." Once you can actually see you think "seen that, boring... it just looks the same as everything else I see everyday."

There's more imagination in not having the eyesight and dreaming of what it can be.

So I guess the ability to perceive and analyze eventually brings us to a place where we are content with what we see. This chains us down, so to speak. When we are blind and cannot see, we are more free to dream.
References :
I think it means we are bound by our pre-misconceptions of things, like we are help back by our prejudice of others.

Or a deeper meaning would be a reference to enlightenment that we need to let go of our senses to become free spirited...

I dunno my question is about enlightenment so maybe I just have it on the mind!

Hope I helped...

Please answer my question:

There are many possible interpretations. How about "you have been given earthly form so that your soul can gain wisdom from being here".
References :
quantum mechanics

In the quantum mechanics of a subatomic particle, one can never specify its state, such as its simultaneous location and velocity, with complete certainty (this is called the Heisenberg uncertainty principle).
