It’d be very different, depending on what sort of conditions our group was. Would our group be like a pod of dolphins? Or would it be like an army of ants?

Not far off from how many people already live today. Haven’t you noticed that people are mostly just trying to satisfy there basic instincts now-a-days? Lack of self-control leads to overt greed, lust, jealousy, etc. Look at the people fornicating left and right with all and sundry, robbing, raping, killing. Haven’t you asked yourself why it is so much more prevalent over these last 20+ years?
Freedom of choice carries a certain responsibility. Freedom of choice does not mean that people think they can do whatever they feel like when and how they feel like without thinking of the consequences for themselves or others. It means carefully considering the effect of their actions on themselves and especially on others and then deciding what to do.
Shutting your brain off and running amok in any form (sexually, physically, verbally, socially, etc.) is NOT being human. That is what an animal would do. They just follow their instincts with no thought for others or the potential consequences.
