How would life be without troops fighting for our freedom?

I want to know how life would be like without our troops fighting for us, also how other countries are without any troops fighting for them.
The lives of more than 3000 families in America would be much better. They’d still have thier sons or daughters. This iraq war doesnt seem to be much about our freedom but the freedom of a country who does not respect us.

Is it really our ‘freedom’ that they are fighting for?

if we never had troops fighting for us, we’d still be under British rule… Actually we’d probably be speaking German… they would have won WWII and we’d have no freedom and life would generally suck;

Are our troops fighting for me? No. If they are fighting for you then how are you supporting them for this?
Do you feel in your bones that you would have lost some freedom if our troops did not fight in Iraq?
How will you be more free now that we have fought and beaten the Iraqis?
Now that we have beaten them in Iraq who exactly are we fighting now in Iraq?
But to answer your question: I feel that my freedoms would not be changed. I can’t help feeling that our government is pursuing a course of action that is of benefit to a small segment of the powerful in our country and I don’t like it.

This applies to our former troops as well as our present day troops. Without them, freedom wouldn’t be an issue— only an unobtainable dream.
I guess the only ones who can really answer what life would be like (or is like) are the ones who lived (or live) under people like Stalin, Hitler, Saddam Husein and that wacky little weirdo in N. Korea (examples)
As for how other countries are without any troops fighting for them? That would be a good one for the Germans, Japanese, Italians, French etc. to answer. Isn’t it amazing that it was America and our allies who gave them the chance to live in a civilized world and they just want to sit back now and say "we’re doing ok. To he** with anyone else that needs help to accomplish the same.?" Our troops are kind of like the Big Brother-Big Sister program on a MEGA scale.
Welfare/handout programs are a great way of feeling like you are a true humanitarian without having to do anything except pay taxes and donate cans of corn to food drives. Troops who will volunteer to lay down their lives to help their fellow man where ever they are needed are the TRUE humanitarians. God Bless Our Troops!!! (and I have no doubt that He will!!)
Brett– you just proved that you are a 100% certifiable IDIOT!!!
And how many times do you have to be told that we–are–not– at–war–WITH– Iraq. We–are–at–war–IN– Iraq! We–are–fighting–terrorists–over–there–so–hopefully–we–won’t–be–fighting–them–over–here!! GET IT?
Tronbatm– WRONG!! Smart question—Stupid answer!!
And for the rest of you who think your freedom was just a given from the start of time–crack a history book!!! What happens in the rest of the world does affect us. Be thankful that because someone else fought and died, you aren’t speaking German, Russian Japanese etc. One spot of cancer spreads and consumes the entire body if left unchecked.

I live in a small country whose small army doesn’t have modern weapons technology and war-making capability. But I am enjoying my freedoms since the day I was born. I can sleep peacefully every night without having to worry about any terrorist attack on my home or my country. My country is peaceful that it is not even mentioned in the major news.
