Posted on January 31st, 2010 by admin

High school senior has to do a speech on why kids in school should not have freedom of speech and it has to be documented, no opinions. They already did the pro on the subject, why kids should have freedom of speech in school.

Actually there is already a doucment that totally limits freedom of speech…at school i mean

Freedom of speech: when and how did it start?

Posted on January 29th, 2010 by admin

I’m writing a research paper for college assignment; I have some questions about freedom of speech and need some information about it :)

When did it begin? Did it first started since ancient Athens?
Who is the famous personage of freedom of speech during the classic period?
Any suggestion/recommendation in writing a research paper?

Thank you so much!

You can only speak freely when there is no fear of reprisal. Honestly everyone watches what they say even to there own family because maybe they depend on them. So what really is free speech? As far as laws are concerned I feel almost certain we are the first nation (US) to actually pass a law that specifically outlines your freedom of expression. I really do not think there is another out there, and we may not last much longer since the notorious communists within our country want to impose the "Fairness Doctrine" which will launch fines and possibly imprison current Conservative Radio talk show hosts if they fail to adhere to socialist reform and government regulations. As Reagan said in his inaugural address, we are the "last great" fortress of freedom. And we are under siege…

Do you think freedom of speech/expression should have more limits?

I love America and I wish to serve it when I am older. But don’t you think that America should limit some of it’s freedoms? Like for instance freedom of speech/expression. Because of it, we have KKK members sending bad messages to people saying that one race is inferior or should be treated badly. I do value freedom but there should be some limits on certain freedoms, don’t you think?

No I do not agree. The only way to retain your freedom to say what you want is to protect the rights of those whose speech makes your blood boil. The proper response to offensive speech is not to suppress it but to speak out about it. More speech, not less, is the answer.

Do we really have freedom of speech when we can get fired for sending a racist email?

Posted on January 25th, 2010 by admin

This country was built on freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Whether its right or wrong a person should not be fired or suspended for making a racist remark.

You shouldn’t really have sent it

But they have the right to suspend you, because it was racist

Ive noticed how racism works both ways, yet only one way is punished, If a black/coloured/etc.. made a racist remark to someone who was white, then nothing would really happen, however, if it happened the other way, then it would be taken seriously,

Countries are so worried about being seen as racist that they will bend over backwards for people of other nationalities for fear of gaining a racist label

However, Racist or not, its considered abuse and bullying, in any respectable company, they will not tolerate it, so they had the right to punish you,

Your lucky that you haven’t lost your job all together, i know people who’ve been fired for smaller things than what happened with you

Try not to do it again-otherwise id be expecting to lose my job if i were you, once is a mistake, you were caught, its now in the past, doing it again is just plain idiocy

All the best xxx

What does Freedom of Speech really mean?

"I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

I do not recall who made this quote. I know it was part of a conversation between two British politicans durintg eighteenth century.

But this quote represents to me the true meaning of the Freedom of speech.

Would you defend everyone’s elses right to voice his opinion, no matter how much you disagree with it?

Slander is just someone’s opinion, and that is illegal. Reputations and futures are built on what people say. If it harms someone, should speech be completely free? I am on your side. My freedom and yours to speak our opinion is what makes this country great, but I believe there should be limits, however, in giving someone power to impose limits, where do you stop him from going too far. For example: Slander, exactly how do you draw the line between what is harmful to someone and what is not. That line continuously gets redrawn every day. Tabloid papers test the limits of the statute every day. Calling someone a thief is slanderous unless it’s true, and stealing words is commonplace, so everyone is at one time or other a thief. Obama and his wife are finding out the hard way what people are allowed to say just outside the boundaries of slander. Ross Perot gave up on trying not to be misquoted. Teachers have lost their professions because a student lied about an affair with them, and even when the truth came out, people still suspected the teacher, and his reputation is ruined. I wouldn’t live in a country without freedom of speech, but with that freedom should come the responsibility for what you say.

Since we have freedom speech, why are anti-non white comments immediately removed here?

Posted on January 20th, 2010 by admin

I asked why non-white racists questions are allowed, and some of them answered that we have freedom speech.

O.k I get your point, but why do you feel the need to constantly report questions and answers about the non-white communities’ problem?, I remember when I got reported because of "chat" then I reply the report and they thought I was right and that I was reported with no reasons.

Yahoo! is a politically correct, left-leaning garbage dump. So naturally, they will bend over backwards in order to not offend their "protected demographics." (aka, anyone not white, male, and straight) I too have noticed that anti-white bias shown on this site from the contributors, and the administrators as well.

The minorities just report stuff they don’t like to hear, regardless of whether it is the truth or not, an example being blacks getting questions deleted when they are in regards to the crime rate, illegitimacy rate, etc, etc, even when the statistics presented are factual and not racist in any way.

I dunno. Maybe they think if the question gets deleted, the problem doesn’t exist??? But whatever, ya know.

I feel it’s pathetic on both yahoo’s end, and pathetic by people that run around reporting things just because they don’t like to hear them, with no regard to the fact that people may have serious questions they want answered.

Why do religious people jump up and down about their freedom of speech?

Posted on January 17th, 2010 by admin

I recently posted a question about the appropriateness of religious types offering the Bible as practical advise for people esp the young with mental health issues. And all the religious types jumped up and down about their freedom of speech. I respect freedom of speech. But these people couldn’t see the issue of whether or not they’re response by using the Bible was appropriate. Yes you have the right to freedom of speech. But what about all the people whose rights you don’t respect. Gay and lesbian rights for example. Do they have freedom of speech too?????

If they didn’t try to censure everyone who disagreed with them, their freedom of speech would seem less like bullying.

Do you think freedom of speech will exist after Obama is in office?

Posted on January 13th, 2010 by admin

Democrats want to shut down talk radio and any other news outlet not spewing the Democrat party or liberal party lines. How? With the "Fairness Doctrine" passed as law, all talk radio and other outlets not giving the state sponsored answers will be obliged to give equal time and money to those who do. Freedom of speech will no longer be profitable in the media. Dissenting speech may no longer be seen through any normal media channels.

What are your thought on the fairness doctrine and the effect of it on our political the religious landscapes?

I think it is a desperate, pathetic move on behalf of the left. They obviously know that their talking points cannot survive on radio, as was proven with the failure of several liberal radio shows.

Since they cannot sustain radio on their own, they want to move into the successful right radio field. I would assume it is because they want to convert everyone.

Too bad they don’t know that by forcing liberal talk radio on us, we’ll just turn it off or tune to another station.

They’re jealous that the right actually has a very successful, influential medium, more powerful than their ABC, NBC and CBS combined.

Where can one have freedom of speech on religion?

Posted on January 7th, 2010 by admin

My URL has been barred, here in the religion section for trying to tell
biblical truths. It appears the Christians have barred my freedom of speech, and all I am talking about at my URL, is about the bible and its
translation.

Y!A may have somehow prevented you from using your URL, but clearly you still have a URL; therefore you are still free to speak out.

Y!A is a closed community, and it has rules you have to follow to participate. They don’t always seem fair, but they are what they are and you’re always free to go elsewhere.

What’s more important, freedom of speech of political correctness?

Posted on December 26th, 2009 by admin

I think PC is more important, we need to be tolerant and prosecute people and throw them in jail if the say bad things about Islam, the Democratic Party or Barack Obama.

There is no Freedom of Speech in Europe and Europe is the most enlightened non-Muslim country on Earth. Yes, I did refer to Europe as a country, but I am a liberal so I’m automatically smarter than you anyway.

Don’t forget if someone bad mouths our Savior, Al Gore, or his Holy prophesies. Then they should be jailed.
