Anyone know a quote on freedom? something that goes like: they can take away my freedom but not—-??

Posted on February 15th, 2010 by admin

I don’t remember exactly how it goes, just that it sounds something like : they can take away my freedom but never my mind (or whatever?) it’s supposed to be really popular.

does anyone know??? thanks!

The one from the movie Braveheart says,

"They can take our lives but they’ll never take OUR FREEDOM! "

I personally like "I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees."
(Pancho Villa…I think)

What do you think about this quote from the book The Freedom Writers, what is your view?

“In class today we discussed how double standards exist for men and women. We talked about how men can get away with whatever they want, but when a female does the same thing, then she gets degraded and even dissed.”

hah yeha i agree, and i think its un fair. when we go on school camps, the boys muck up and do stupid stuff but if the girls joint in every one would just think the girs are like try hards or wanna-be’s or losers or something, its so annoying cause guys always have so much more fun, also I hate it when the girls sit on the edge of the soccer field just watching the boys play.. its like ‘go play your own soccer game you bimbos!’ but some thing its too un-ladylike to play contact sports … pfft.

what is the complete/correct quote: "To what avail- life or limb or land or sea, if freedom fail?"?

Posted on February 7th, 2010 by admin

I found it, and used it as my high school quote in 1983 West Seneca West.

To what avail the plow or sail or land or life if freedom fail?

Do you think this is a good quote on Freedom Fighters?

Posted on January 31st, 2010 by admin

This is quote my man and sadly missed George Carlin. Let me know if you agree or not.

"Smug, greedy, well-fed white people have invented a language to conceal their sins. It’s as simple as that. The CIA doesn’t kill anybody anymore, they neutralize people…or they depopulate the area. The government doesn’t lie, it engages in disinformation. The pentagon actually measures nuclear radiation in something they call sunshine units. Israeli murderers are called commandos. Arab commandos are called terrorists. Contra killers are called freedom fighters. Well, if crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight? They never mention that part of it to us, do they? Never mention that part of it. "

great quote, you wont get to many people in this section to agree, the military does a great job a brainwashing or misinforming, there members, its a sad day when a soldier in iraq or Afghanistan, actually believes he or she is there fighting for "our" freedoms

Is this the Republican quote of the day: "When other countries don’t have freedom, their people starve"?

Posted on January 29th, 2010 by admin

True quote from a Republican on Yahoo Answers.

WOW.

What exactly is the definition of…freedom? What makes America more of a free nation than other countries? Are you free from obnoxious, greedy lawyers and prosecutors? Are you free from federal agents that are trained not to even trust their own people? Are you free from corporate tyranny?
What are some other funny Republican myths?

Here’s one I heard: "It is easy to get out of poverty in America compared to China, where it could take 10 generations!"

HAHAHAAHAH!
I am reading some ridiculous answers on here, ridiculous.

WHAT….is that not true???
look at extreme dictatorship in africa…billions in aid are sent, but those in need still starve.

Explain the quote “Seek freedom and become captive of your desires. Seek discipline and find your liberty"?

Posted on January 25th, 2010 by admin

from Dune: Chaperhouse by Frank Herbert

It’s claiming that if you actively seek out freedom of thought, you’ll end up following every whim about what you want to do and think. But if you discipline your mind, you’ll find paradoxically it more powerful to explore its possibilities.

(It has to be remembered that a) this is a made-up quotation in a novel, so it isn’t necessarily true and wise; and b) within Herbert’s Dune mythos it’s in the Bene Gesserit Coda, the sayings of an order devoted to psychological/political gaming with powers developed by intense mental discipline, so they’re bound to stress the importance of such discipline).

what’s your favorite freedom quote?^^?

Love does not claim possession, but gives freedom.

No one can give you freedom but you.

freedom/choices quote???

Posted on January 20th, 2010 by admin

I need a quote about how great America’s many choices and freedoms are…it’s for an English essay. please make it short and sweet. I don’t care if you find one or make one up yourself, but please include the name, even if it’s just a "pen name" because i can’t use it if i can’t acknowledge it. it could also be about the wide variety of freedoms/choices in general or compared to other countries. I need it by thursday the 8th please. Thanks!
