It’s also true that it was fought on the pretense that all men were equal, and then included segments about slavery being pretty cool. The US is a great country, but like all people it takes longer for our actions to match our ideals. As the Constitution says, we are trying everyday to form a more perfect union… sometimes we get it wrong

I agree, except you forgot the part about 11 countries warning us in advance of an attack and Chaney ordering our air national defense to "Stand down" on 9/11.

Co-incidence? That made Chaney fabulously rich with war profiteering? I think not.

How are the U.S. troops fighting for the freedom of the American people? How are our freedoms being threatened in the first place? How exactly are U.S. soldiers combatting this threat to our freedoms? How will we know when our freedoms are safe and secured? I am not looking for metaphorical answers, or vague, passionate answers, I want neutral facts. Thank you.
If you need me to clarify further I am NOT asking how the U.S. troops are fighting for the freedom of the Iraqi people. I am asking for how they are fighting for the freedom of the AMERICAN PEOPLE.
I find it interesting how difficult it is to supply a straightforward answer for this question, yet the talking point of "our soldiers are over there right now fighting for our freedoms" or "right now our soldiers are fighting for your very freedom to speak freely" is used so often, so confidently, and so passionately.

It is the one taking place right now. It’s the change from the free nation to a dictatorship / communist nation. This is the one YOU have to look out for Because it’s yours in just a few years. The USA is becoming part of a world nation. To be dictated by one governing body.

He was the first person to finance the American Revolution, because he was against "Taxation without Representation" that pretty much started the revolution. And because of the revolution, which woulodn’thave been possible without him, we got a new country that gave us the rights that we have today.
