Posted on April 17th, 2010 by admin

Was the American Revolution really a war to obtain freedom, or was it a war to keep the british from imposing restrictions on the freedom most Americans already had?

Aren’t those kind of the same thing? The Revolutionary war was to obtain freedom because Britain was imposing unfair taxes and restrictions. The Americans didn’t just want better treatment. They wanted total freedom. People are like that.

When freedom compounds form so American citizens can exist without the National programs?

Posted on April 3rd, 2010 by admin

how will the military resolve the existence of freedom loving Americans who segregate from the ‘new society of unity’?

Should American citizens be informed that they will be exterminated by whatever means is necessary in order to get them to comply with the new social standards?

Should this include them being killed for not conforming?

The Civics/Government/Other-Government/Politics forums went that-a-way

How did Lincoln define american freedom?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

During the Civil War, both sides claimed to be fighting for what they defined as freedom. How did Lincoln define or redefine “American freedom?"

Lincoln meant freedom for everyone, whereas the south believed in freedom for the whites but not the blacks. What sort of mentality can rationaize the statement "I’m not completely free unless I’m free to own slaves".?

Doesn’t The Banning Of Gay Marriage Sort Of Undermine The Whole Concept Of American Freedom?

Posted on February 18th, 2010 by admin

I mean, didn’t our ancestors fight the revolutionary war so that people would have rights, and to establish a separation of Church & State?

That’s true.

It’s also true that it was fought on the pretense that all men were equal, and then included segments about slavery being pretty cool. The US is a great country, but like all people it takes longer for our actions to match our ideals. As the Constitution says, we are trying everyday to form a more perfect union… sometimes we get it wrong :-(
