How are American troops in Iraq fighting for our freedom?
Posted on January 29th, 2010 by admin
How are the U.S. troops fighting for the freedom of the American people? How are our freedoms being threatened in the first place? How exactly are U.S. soldiers combatting this threat to our freedoms? How will we know when our freedoms are safe and secured? I am not looking for metaphorical answers, or vague, passionate answers, I want neutral facts. Thank you.
If you need me to clarify further I am NOT asking how the U.S. troops are fighting for the freedom of the Iraqi people. I am asking for how they are fighting for the freedom of the AMERICAN PEOPLE.
I find it interesting how difficult it is to supply a straightforward answer for this question, yet the talking point of "our soldiers are over there right now fighting for our freedoms" or "right now our soldiers are fighting for your very freedom to speak freely" is used so often, so confidently, and so passionately.
they are not fighting for your freedom… Instead, the American government has started a live of imprisonment for the American people……

It the same as when we were fighting against Germany in WWII. It’s a group of extremist (Muslim extremists in this case, Nazis in the case of Germany) taking advantage of innocent people of a certain area.
Even though it may not affect you right where you sit in your chair this very minute, we are there to stop horrible atrocities from happening to people who can’t defend themselves. By stopping it form spreading over there we can (hopefully) stop it from continuing to spread here. Plus we have a duty as a powerful nation to help the little guys.
I’m not saying I’m in favor of the war, but if you don’t think we’re doing good over there ask a veteran. My brother did 2 tours and he said the looks on the peoples faces as we brought them food and medical care that they had been deprived of was worth all of the money spent on the war.

The soldiers in Iraq are not fighting for American freedom but for freedom of Iraqis through promoting a democratic system in Iraq. President Bush believes democracy is a vehicle for peace. And peace with a newly formed democracy in the middle east will provide safety for the united states and maybe spread through the middle east. The problem with this is successful democracys do not spring from nothing. There has to be a philosophical climate and understanding among people of unalienable rights that cannot be taken away from one group and given to another. Life has to be respected and protected. Without law and order to protect life democracy is worthless.

I’d like to see them fighting for our freedom about five miles down the road here where the Border Patrol is regularly outgunned by Mexican Drug Gangs. I always thought protecting our borders was thier job.
They were defending our freedom when they defeated the Iraqi Fleet off mobile. Just like when the Alabama Air Guard defeated the VietCong Fleet.
As for Democracy, we have turned Iraq into a killing field rivalling Pol Pots Cambodia. Almost the entire Christian Population, which lived under Sadaam has fled and are now refugees. The government we support is a sham and the Army is a shiite militia
I did two tours in Vietnam and never fooled myself into believing I was saving America. I was fighting Communism.

Well firs of all we are not fighting for our freedom. We are free and nothing can change that. The fact is people have forgotten of the power of the people. We should not be anywhere we don’t want to be.And I mean the American people and not the Government.70% of the American people believe that our young men and women should not be dieing for another country. But like I said we have forgotten that the Government was set up for the people by the people and of the people. And if we the people don’t like something then we should get together and fix it.Kick those bastards out of Washington that are self serving and put some honest people in office…sorry to be so far off topic but it really makes me mad…thank you

Very probing question. Sure American troops are not fighting for our or your freedom, for that fact not even for Iraqis freedom. Troops are not for freedom alone. If global peace is under threat UN has to get into action. Everybody forgot that it is UN who gave green signal to attack on Iraq. UN does not mean US, Briton, France alone. Russians, China are also in UN SC! They agreed for this fight. Even Muslim countries are supporting US actions.
Let us wait and see the benefits of this war.

Your question implies that if they were not there "fighting for our freedom" we would all be speaking Arabic at the hands of our Iraqi Invaders.
Somehow, I doubt the Iraqi military was gearing up for a massive sneak amphibious assault on the Western Coast.
Perhaps you refer to the incredibly massive paradrop of Iraqi units all over the US ala the movie "Wolverines".
Maybe they are fighting for our freedom by preventing the preemptive nuclear strike by the Iraqi WMD program. Condy said so.
Maybe it was the intense terrorist presence in Iraq as compared to the camps in Afghanistan or the Iranian funded and supplied Hezbollah. I mean, by taking out the main Al Quaeda base in Iraq, we neutralized (and by our presence) continue to mitigate the terrorists. News flash, Iran and Syria have far deeper ties to terror than Iraq could ever hope to have. Glad we went after Iraq…protecting our freedom by allowing Hezbollah to run free.
So, uh, they are protecting us from whom?

by trying to put a damper on Islamic extremists…our freedom in this year or next five years aren’t at risk right now…but if Islamic extremist grow and flourish beyond our capability to control we or our children will be subject to them…look what is happening in Europe…they want to introduce sharia law SEPARATE from their countries law…in effect creating a state within a state…in parts of France there are place that police DO NOT GO because of these Muslims…in Europe i fear it is too late because their liberal ideologies are killing them…they are forfeiting their culture to adapt to the culture of the minorities who move in which is mostly Muslim…please remember that in Islam…unlike Christianity…loyalty is ONLY to Islam…where as in Christianity it is taught to respect the laws and pray for the leaders…we will know when we are safe when we take a stand to protect our culture from the invading culture of Islam…when we make it clear to them that they can live with us and among us but they MUST respect the law of our land or move out…until we see this kind of backbone from our leaders we will not be safe…our freedoms we enjoy now will slowing be eroded away in the name of "tolerance" or "multiculturalism"

LOL… there is no way to answer the question without sounding like an idiot.
According to the Bush faithful, we’re fighting them there so that hey don’t follow our navy home after we retreat and fly more planes into buildings.
Ofcourse that begs the question why wait until we leave Iraq, since Bush has been telling us they are already here? Crock O Sh1t.

Frankly, we are removing a rotten apple from the barrel to avoid spreading the rot to the whole barrel which would eventually be OUR apple.

They are all brave and I pray for them every day. I feel they are not really fighting for our freedoms per say but for the freedom of the Iraqi people, at least that is how it use to be. I am not by any means saying they have never fought for our freedoms here at home. What I am saying, is while they are over there, we are over here losing our freedoms of free speech, losing our Democracy and how it is suppose to function, thanks to our so called president who only likes to listen to himself and no one else.. I always thought Democracy was by the people for the people not by the president and for the president. The best thing we as a nation can do while our brave soldiers are fighting for what they believe they are there for, because my view is different, is keep speaking out and fight for our freedoms her at home so they will be here when the soldiers return… It is all of our duties to secure our own freedoms when threatened by someone who wants to be a dictator but masquerades as a Republican.

Everything revolves around construction, contracts, oil/gas, dollars, power and ego. And, this can not be achieved without distruction. And, war is the most effective mode of fulfilling all these demands in a single stroke. Fear psychosis the name of the game. And, American leaders have, so far, proved to be the world leaders in this area. Call it fight for freedom / self esteem / survival / anything you like.
