Did Americans ever tolerate freedom of religion before the bill of rights was added to the Constitution?

Posted on March 28th, 2010 by admin

Were Americans ever intolerant of different religions before the bill of rights legally allowed freedom of religion?

not in some places. Rhode Island was founded by a group who found the Puritans too unaccepting for example. Up to the Revolutionary war most churches were Anglican. In the northern states their were some Presbyterian and Methodist groups scattered about. Before the revolution preachers were supposed to get a license from the throne to preach. Churches in the didn’t worry too much about this, as very few non-Anglican priests were given licenses anyway. In the south the Anglican church fought the encroachment of their religious monopoly by sending militia or even mobs to arrest, beat or even kill non licensed priests. The Methodist and Presbyterian leaders in the South were looked at as a huge threat because they drew large crowds from the poor and even from slaves who embraced the idea that you could get to heaven through a personal relationship with God and not have to go through the Anglican institution which was more for the land owners anyway.

Isn’t Obama Care Cardiac Arrest; A Lethal Stealth Sneak Ambush on American and State Freedom?

Posted on March 28th, 2010 by admin

The major news networks report experts saying Obama bill will kill true health care, not insure everyone, not assure care even if there’s coverage and it’s an attack on individual and state rights.

Who will pay for it when businesses can’t afford higher taxes and millionaires move their income offshore?

Although not yet officially "Obama Care" until signed into law, the simple answer to your concerns is a definite "No, the health care and insurance reforms is not in any way a stealth sneak ambush on American and state freedom [sic]" (ReadTheBill.org).

Fear not, young grasshopper…the only "stealth sneak ambush on American and State Freedom" as you suggest is the cult-evangelical religious fanatics who seized control of the Republican party back during Reagan days (Goldberg, 2006) with the intention of staging a stealth overthrow of our democracy "from within" in order to implant or embed a pentecostal (extremist) theocracy. If you should choose to object to this government takeover by religious extremists (in violation of our Constitution), you might want to begin research on a Washington-based pseudo-christian cult, The Family (Sharlet, 2008), which hosts the annual National Prayer Breakfast—sounds innocent enough, right? Not. Check out their alteregos: The Foundation, Youth With A Mission, YWAM, The Foundation, and Christian Mafia (the latter being the name they give themselves among members. Modern members include right-wing Senators Inhofe (advocates DEATH PENALTY in Uganda for gays) and embattled Ensign, among other right-wing extremist political leaders, and Michael Farris’s (Goldberg, 2006) home-schooled-since-infancy "culture warriors" and his young adult "Generation Joshua" biblical literalists who are taught from birth that they are "god-ordained" to "take dominion over every single level of "the Beast" (our government) in order to overthrow this government and "take dominion over all nonbelievers" (anyone who does NOT accept literal interpretation of scripture as the law of the land). THIS is the stealth sneak attack about which you should be ranting—not the life-saving, economy-saving, consumer-protecting, deficit-reducing access-for-all-Americans health care and insurance reforms!

What country can we move to now for freedom, since the United States is no longer the home of the free?

Posted on March 26th, 2010 by admin

The U.S. was the Home of the Free and the Brave. Now it is the home of Comrade Obama and Pelosi. What country is the land of opportunity now?

This is interesting question to me. For many years people like me wanted to leave their country to go to freedom in America. We stayed because we can make it different. I am from Slovakia where was communism with many other countries for years. you may know soviet russia. Communism was very poor. We wanted to leave and go to freedom in the western europe and the America. We see now what is America with this new president it is so close to what we had before communism government. I think it is ok to care about some people and their health. This is losing freedom for you. My country has fought for near 20 years to be far from communist to be free. the person writes about Cuba and communist. I agree you know not what it is like and you do not want to know this feeling. It is morning and you must wake with the sun to see what is the problem. We who have lived in communism can see. Please America listen to this. Do not move from ther and others you can be wrong there is problem that you can see, please.

In what ways did World War I challenge American ideals of freedom?

In what ways did World War I challenge American ideals of freedom?

This affect more of the African American and Women freedom. Most of the men were drafted and had to go to war. Because the government was desperate for soldiers, some of the African American were allow to go to war. These African American experience real freedom in the war and was inspired. It changes how freedom is though of in America. As the men left, women step in jobs that were normally not suitable for feminine. They experience work other than being house-wives. Since they did the job good, women were able to hold work even after the war. It is a new freedom for women.
