In the book Freedom Writers there was this quote, what does it mean to you?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

"I want to write his story so others will know his death was not in vain." Anonymous Freedom Writer, Chapter 6 page 150.

For me, since I’ve seen the movie and read the book, this quote means that this boy died, but they wanted to write down his story to show that even though he didn’t do anything of great consequence, his life mattered, and so did its ending. He was a person, and his story was a piece of the world.

What do you consider to be "arms" that the bill of rights gives you freedom to own?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

Our constitution gives us the rights to bear arms. Clearly nuclear weapons, which are technically arms, shouldn’t be legal for any person to own. And most would agree a grenade launcher should also be banned.

Where do you think the line should be drawn and why?
Sway, are you saying that all weapons should be legal because most people can’t afford them?

The Right to Bear Arms – is the right to defend yourself. Some people can buy guns, as long as they are registered. They should be used to protect yourself in your home. You can’t go around with your gun, in case something happens, but you can have it a home, in case of an intruder. You have the right to protect yourself and your family, but you can’t go around with your weapon looking for a fight.

Does Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite have online play?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

And I don’t mean local, I’m talking wifi worldwide multiplayer.

Depending where you live you can access a program on your ps3 called Ad Hoc Party to connect to others online. But I think it is only available in Japan.

why does norway have so much press freedom?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

for my citizenship project i have to discuss press freedom between two countries..i have done some work on russia but what can i right for norway? i need to put forward reasons to explain why norway is so peaceful & free-ish…all your help is much appreciated, thanks :D

Well whatever Norway is doing, is very very good!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_Human_Development_Index

Thats a list of countries in order of HDI (Which is about health, education, life expectancy etc…)
And Norway is first place! So grats to them, must be a very good country to live in.
Im much happier personally to live in a country more concerned with life than war. Which is why would never move to America (Sorry America!)

Im happy where I am, Australia which is ranked 2nd there. Life is good here.

Good luck with your project buddy

Help me in writing this essay:-Are we given too much or too little freedom at school and at home?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

too little;

in regards to school [sydney ones], we have certain subjects we can study, sometimes you want to study others but they don’t even offer them here. there are the limitless rules. i mean there’s the whole school uniform one, that’s completely stupid IMO. like we couldn’t wear jewellery, no crazy hair colours, no long nails. if are coming to school/going home, you must be in full school uniform. etc.

at home, i think it’s just as bad. no matter what you do it’s always wrong, parents think you get away with soo much, they barely trust their kids these days.

ooh and you cannot argue with adults because you’re a child, therefore they’re automatically correct, haha.

Why is freedom of speech important in canada?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

We are doing a debate on this topic and we are FOR freedom of speech, any help?

Freedom of speech is important EVERYWHERE.

If the government controls your speech, you have no freedom. Once they take your freedom to say what you want, they will begin to control what you think.

Does the Freedom of Information Act pertain to state run universities?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

I am trying to get a copy of the University of Maine’s budget from last year and I was told they are not very compliant with such requests. Does the Freedom of Information Act allow me to request these documents with the aid of the legal system?

If they receive state or federal funding through taxes, then yes.

How did Lincoln define american freedom?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

During the Civil War, both sides claimed to be fighting for what they defined as freedom. How did Lincoln define or redefine “American freedom?"

Lincoln meant freedom for everyone, whereas the south believed in freedom for the whites but not the blacks. What sort of mentality can rationaize the statement "I’m not completely free unless I’m free to own slaves".?

What is a this American Life episode dealing with choice, mental captivity vs. freedom or oppression of women?

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by admin

Its for a presentation and i want to play a clip but cant find a good episode to use. teh presentation is on the book woman at point zero by nawal el saadawi.

Just what sort of episode of "This American Life" do you think will resonate with the tale of an Egyptian prostitute on death row for murder? Or do you simply wish to borrow the credibility of the radio series for your presentation on an unrelated topic?
