What does this John Locke quote about freedom mean?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

"If a man in the state of nature.. be absolute lord of his own person and possessions, equal to the greatest and subject to nobody, why will he give up his freedom?
I am not sure how to answer this question. I need to write 5 paragraphs on this.

what he means by state of nature is an enviroment with out governmental restrictions. each man is his own government. he protects his own belongings by himself. but in the time of (as described by john locke) absolute freedom, with out a government their were no laws and there for many people were killed for their belongings. as my teacher described it to me, yes their is an apple on that tree way out there, but im going to kill you because no one is stopping me and take your apple. hope this helps :)

Where in the Canadian Charter of Rights ond Freedom does it talk about a citizen’s privacy?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

I’d like to know the exact refrence of where in the Charter of Rights and Freedom it explains the right that a citizen has to privacy. If you can provide a link that would be very helpful. Thanks =)

Privacy is not mentioned in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Literally.

The closest thing you could argue as "privacy" would be Section 8 of the Charter, which deals with protection against a police officer searching your house, person or belongings etc.

"8. Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure."

However, this does not mean Canadians have no privacy. Canada was a major contributor to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and those laws supposedly still mean something in Canada today.

Under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, attacks/intrusions upon a person’s privacy are considered violations of human rights. A person’s privacy is to be given basic protection under the law:

"Article 12.
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks."

Hope that helps,
Phil

Does the first amendment freedom of press include freedom of expressing yourself through media?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

I’m writing an essay one the freedom of press and I need to know if the freedom of expressing yourself throgh media (T.V., radio) is the same thing as it is in press (newspaper, magazines).

The supreme court traditionally interpreted the constitution to mean this, effectively declaring all forms of expression "freedom of speech and the press."

However, now that 9/11 has changed our lives, we no longer have any real guaranteed freedom to express ourselves through any media.

has anyone tried to work at home with freedom team and ameriplan?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

If u did what made u quit? (if u did) is it really as easy as they make it look? is it worth it? please give me all the feedback u can..all the goods and bad’s…THANK YOU!! (only give me your opinion if u have tried it other wise I will report you for giving me a crappy answer)

Hey there. I’m an Independent Business Owner for Ameriplan and am on the Freedom at Home team. It’s not easy, but I really didn’t think they made it look easy either. My sponsor was very honest with me and made sure I knew that working from home can still be "work", but the difference here is, depending on how hard you are willing to work, you can get a lot more out of this business than your average job. You earn residual income and if you decide to stop working, that income will always be there for you. It keeps coming in.

I didn’t join to get rich quick, like a lot of people did, so perhaps I simply have more patience with the difficult aspects of this business, but I can say that I love it. I started because I am going to be having a baby soon and I want to stay at home with him. What could be better than a business I can run from home and while on my errands, all the while receiving tax breaks and benefits? And if you think that once you sign up you’re on your own, with our team you most definitely aren’t. I talk to my sponsor everyday on my Messenger and she helps me out a lot and has a lot of faith in me. I have spoken directly with Kelly Fuller too, one of the bigger names in our team who has been featured in work at home magazines. These people are all really great and very helpful to me.

It can be hard if you live in a small town with few providers, but referring providers is also easy and will help you out a lot if that is the case. You can work on the internet, over the phone, in your community, anywhere you want and at the end of the year, get write-offs for your phone and internet, your gas, and whatever else you use to get your job done. The benefits to me are worth the harder parts.

The hardest part for me is the people who think that I am trying to scam them and are lying to them. I’ve always considered myself a very honest person (brutally sometimes when necessary) and it can sting when people practically flip you off for answering questions that they themselves asked, but this doesn’t happen as often as you may think either. Just every once in a while. lol. Anyways, I don’t know if there is a limit to how much can be said, so if you have more questions, contact me or visit their site. I can answer any more questions you have and help you get signed up.

Is your freedom of speech here in yahoo question and answers being filtered?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

I think there is something going on Freedom of speech Freedom of religion, the right to choose, is being filtered here in yahoo. I know that you fellow yahoo’ers and I know who you are good people, think that Big Brother is watching us? We do head up some of the most controversy question’s here, could it be possible? We never know right we are the people, we have a right to know!

Yahoo is a private company, therefore they arent constitutionally bound to give you total freedom of speech since they are a private company, and you are publishing on there property. Just like you can filter what people say in your house, and who goes in your house etc.’

Next time just read the constitution…something most Americans dont do, they just listen to other people who tell them their rights.

What are quotes that are examples of Civil Disobedience, Individual Freedom, and Absolute Authority of State?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

What are quotes From Antigone that have to deal with Civil Disobedience, Individual Freedom and Absolute Authority of the state? how?

Great question!
Love to answer.

The kind of man who always thinks that he is right–that his opinions and his pronouncements are the final word–when once exposed, shows nothing their.

God and the government ordain just laws; the citizen who rules his life by them is worthy of acclaim. But he that presumes to set the law at naught is like a stateless person, outlawed, beyond the pale.

I have nothing but contempt for the kind of governor who is afraid, for whatever reason, to follow the course that he knows is best for the State; and as for the man who sets private friendship above the public welfare — I have no use for him, either.

Be wise by instinct when you can. But when this fails, be wise by good advice.

There is nothing worse than disobedience to authority. It destroys cities.

Sons and fathers crown each other’s glory with each other’s fame.

Show me the man who keeps his house in hand,
He’s fit for public authority.

No other touchstone can test the heart of a man, the temper of his mind and spirit, till he be tried in the practice of authority and rule.

*****************
And I finish with this, which I think it is fantastic!

Reason is God’s greatest gift to man.

Sons and fathers crown each other’s glory with each other’s fame.

The kind of man who always thinks that he is right–that his opinions and his pronouncements are the final word–when once exposed, shows nothing their.

Show me the man who keeps his house in hand,
He’s fit for public authority.
A wise man has much to learn without a loss of dignity.

God and the government ordain just laws; the citizen who rules his life by them is worthy of acclaim. But he that presumes to set the law at naught is like a stateless person, outlawed, beyond the pale.

No other touchstone can test the heart of a man, the temper of his mind and spirit, till he be tried in the practice of authority and rule.

When I have tried and failed, I shall have failed.

Don’t kill the messenger.

For God hates utterly
The bray of bragging tongues.
Our ship of fate, which recent storms have threatened to destroy, has come safely to harbor at last.

I have nothing but contempt for the kind of governor who is afraid, for whatever reason, to follow the course that he knows is best for the State; and as for the man who sets private friendship above the public welfare — I have no use for him, either.

Nobody likes the man who brings bad news.

Money: There’s nothing in the world so demoralizing as money.

Numberless are the world’s wonders, but none
More wonderful than man.
Even the stout of heart shrink when they see the approach of death.

There is nothing worse than disobedience to authority. It destroys cities.

It is a good thing
To escape from death, but it is not great pleasure
To bring death to a friend.
Grief teaches the steadiest minds to waver.

Be wise by instinct when you can. But when this fails, be wise by good advice.

Love, unconquerable,
Waster of rich men, keeper
Of warm lights and all-night vigil
In the soft face of a girl:
Sea-wanderer, forest-visitor!
Even the pure immortals cannot escape you,
And mortal man, in his one day’s dusk,
Trembles before your glory.

Hope I have helped you.
Good Luck!
LIGHT BRIGHT FOREVER!

Wouldn’t it be great, and an awesome example of American freedom, if gays could be married today in any of the?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

…50 states?

If you don’t agree, you’re anti-freedom and therefore anti-American.
G’morning, erik :)

The anti comments are a tactic I’ve decided to steal from the religious right, Al :P
Well, cam, being a woman and all, I think it pleases your god that I likes me some penis.
Good morning, (((Cricket)))!

No one has the right to legislate against marriage between consenting adults, period. In a sense it wouldn’t be great if gay marriage were allowable in all 50 states — it simply would be *fair.*

What would you give up in your life to keep your freedom?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

Simple question. What would you give up in your life to keep your freedom and rights? Freedom isn’t free and we all give up a little bit of something. What would you give up if you knew it would help in keeping our freedom?

everything I own

In an independent t-test one group has 20 members & the other group has 24 membrs. Find the degrees of freedom?

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by admin

I dont understand how to calculate this… I dont understand the "degrees of freedom". Can anyone help me understand this????

The degrees of freedom in this case is 20+24-2 = 42.
You need to use the t probability table which requires the degree of freedom.
