Also how is a society threatened or maintained by "vigilance." I have to use a good book with literary merit. One that I would like to use is Anne Frank. So how is her freedom or the freedom of Jews threatened or maintained by vigilance

i think the jews have been vigilant in the cause for freedom, they did survive the holicaust, they were almost wiped out by the nazi’s

Why is freedom of the press under the First Amendment fundamental to democracy?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

The FCC cannot censor broadcasts and the government may not exercise prior restraint over print media. Why is freedom of the press under the First Amendment fundamental to democracy?

Because whether you agree with the particular bias of a "News" agency their being allowed to air the "dirty underwear" of this country is what all the other "Rights" stand on. Without the freedom of the press this nation will never survive because one party could take over and silence the other(As the Republicans did until the "Press" started bringing out the facts that brought them down). The reason the Republicans are so rancorous in their attacks on the Democrats and Obama is the Fear that the Democrats will realize the power the Republicans left ready to be abused in the Patriot Act, the Military Powers Act and the revised FISA.

The NSA already censors the news and the Internet and has since 2002 by presidential decree which the revised FISA legalized. Why do you think the top recruiter of "Hackers" in the USA is and has been since 2001 the NSA?

How many Democrats will stand up for freedom of speech when they try to enact the ‘Fairness Doctrine"?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

How many will stand of for our right to freedom of speech even though the views talk radio voices are not yours. Isn’t freedom of speech more important than quieting the opposition?
Even Clinton was talking about it yesterday, saying it was a good idea.
It’s all about capitalism, people want to hear conservative radio, businesses buy airtime on these programs. They won’t buy airtime on something no one will listen to, therefore they go out of business
Agree’d honeybee, that’s why I don’t vote Dem anymore.
Rick, we live in a nation that practices soft fascism
I guess everyone is right, not 1 Dem has answered this Q saying they believe in freedom of speech. Very sad isn’t it
Deb, everything you said was delusional, for starters I never said anything about Dems except I used to be one, and secondly, Obama has done nothing but sh** on the constitution since day one. Narrow minded people think just because you don’t support Obama you must have supported Bush. News flash, some people(including me) didn’t support either. Of course Obama makes Bush look like Mother Theresa
Ron Paul was not my guy, if you read my response you would see that I USED to be a Dem. I grew up. I’m from Texas, our state is doing quite well. Let me guess your from one of those liberal broke states with your hand out.

Andrea- a great question & one of my big concerns! Since I know your own personal politics and previous politics- I really love watching you grow as a conservative. Free speech is for all of us, not just Republicans, not just Dems. The fact that the dems call it a "fairness doctrine" makes it sound like a good thing- to those who don’t really understand what it is. I think they did that on purpose for the bleeding hearts to hear the word "fairness". Of course they will support it, some having no idea what it is- other than Dems want it. This will be a HUGE fight if it happens! I have already started on my representatives.

What Freedom 90% of the media is in Obamas pocket

No preset limits. Depends on the conditions: salary, credit history.

How has America and Freedom destroyed your life and what other country will you be moving to?

It is amaizing how it’s the liberals who don’t get the joke of this question.

It is terrible money just keeps coming in and I have to buy larger house to keep all of the things I buy trying to rid myself of this filthy money. No one comes to my door in the middle of the night when I criticize my government. How am I supposed to know how I am to act if I am not regulated.

I have my eye on a nice repressive regime in Venezuela.

Are protests at military funerals freedom of speech, a hate group, or just a cross section of society?

Posted on September 29th, 2009 by admin

Please tell me your opinion and why.

It is not logical to defend such conduct as a First Amendment exercise, because the families of slain soldiers are not lawmakers who might be persuaded to change the policies the protestors object to. If the protestors have objections to government policies, they should be on the Capitol steps or some similar place, petitioning the government to change its policies, not harassing bereaved families who are no more responsible for the policies than the protestors themselves. Those protests are just more of the virulent religious fanaticism that motivates terrorists, assassins, and other sociopaths all over the world.
